Does K9 Resorts have cameras? ›

While there are numerous security cameras around the facility that are accessible at all times by management and staff, we do not have a system in place for others to watch the dogs in our care.

There's no way to pinpoint exactly how long it will take your pup to get used to daycare. Some may adapt in a few days, while others may take weeks to months. The best a pet parent can do is to pay attention to signs of distress, be patient, and provide lots of loving care at the end of the day.

Has your pet come home acting like he hasn't been fed for a week? Rest assured, he most certainly has! Dogs naturally eat and drink less while they are in boarding - something which is generally down to it being a new environment and them feeling less comfortable than they would at home.

Kennel staff most likely monitor water more closely than you do at home refilling waters regularly throughout the day. Dogs drink more when they get home for multiple reasons, they may feel more comfortable there, they may be overly excited, or the car ride home stressed them out.

Each dog is a member of the handler's family. In almost all cases the dog retires with that family. Only in the most extreme of cases is there an exception to this. If the dog is handled by more than one officer during their career it will normally retire with the last officer it work with.

One of the most pervasive myths is that dogs feel abandoned when they're left at a boarding facility. However, dogs are more adaptable than we often give them credit for. A well-run boarding facility offers not just a place to stay but a new adventure.

Some think it goes back to the mammal/wolf instinct of taking food away from the “kill” or to protect their portion from other's stealing it while they are eating. Other owners report that their dogs bring the food out of the bowl away from a hard floor to a softer surface such as carpet or towels.

Are dogs traumatized by boarding? Dog boarding can be challenging for your dog, but a dog is rarely traumatized after spending time at a dog boarding kennel.

This condition, known as “kennel nose,” is the result of your dog rubbing its nose repeatedly into something until the skin becomes irritated. The skin may also form abrasions that, if agitated enough, can bleed.

Get back into your usual routine as quickly as possible

Dogs benefit from routine and familiarity since knowing what to expect helps them to feel more secure. In turn, this can eliminate unwanted behaviors when she first comes home, such as overt clinginess, urinating and even scratching or chewing.

K-9s are police dogs that are a play on the word “canine” (which means dog). K-9 security dogs can be used in the public or private sector and assist guards with a variety of functions. For example, k-9s can assist with drug sniffing or bomb sniffing.

When their shift ends, the K9s go home with their handlers and are a part of the handler's family. Each dog has a different personality and temperament, but they tend to be great at home because we choose dogs that are social. As one might imagine, the bond between an officer and their K9 partner is strong.

Our dogs may be sociable and friendly, but they are not pets. They are working dogs and look to their handlers for approval to relax and be petted. If you see one of our Canine Unit marked vehicles around town, do not try to touch the vehicle or interact with the police service dog through the window.

At traditional boarding facilities and dog kennels, pups have their own space, separate from other dogs. Your dog may also have his own dog run, or he'll be taken for walks and play multiple times a day.
